It's facebook official

Well...I'm making it official by updating my relationship status on facebook to "in a relationship" as well as announcing it here, for the world (or the small group of you that actually read this, love ya'll by the way) to see.

I am in love!

I feel like Buddy in my favorite Christmas movie Elf:
"I'm in love, I'm in love. And I don't care who knows it!"

There's nothing like new love, especially when it's this right. My head is in the clouds, there's a bounce in my step, my heart leaps for joy every time I see his smile.

I snapped this pic of myself to send to him the other morning. Just playing with my new lens...but even I can see the joy in my eyes here.

That look in my eyes is love.

Ta da!

You knew I couldn't wait to show some of the pics I took today with my new toy right? Of course!

De-funk-a-fied

So the cure all for being a funk? Step one: Post your frustrations on your blog and find words of encouragment and understanding from strangers you admire. Step two: Have your new man come to visit and wrap his arms around you while watching late night talk shows. Step three: Buy yourself a new lens.

Aint she a beauty?

I've had this one saved in my Amazon wish list for months. I took the plunge and she arrived last night. I spent a few min's getting to know her this morning and I can't wait for our first real date.

Funk officially over! WAAHOO!

In a funk

So this weekend I had a photo shoot booked on Fri for a family of 5, I mentioned that one in an earlier post and expressed my concern since I've never done a photo shoot with that many subjects before. Unfortunately the rain came Friday afternoon and didn't leave till this morning. I tried to shoot the three girls (9 months, 2, and 4 year old) in their bed rooms but the lack of light and lack of interest they had in me proved to be too much for this inexperienced photographer to overcome. I got a few cute pictures but overall I was just not happy with the outcome so thankfully we've agreed to re shoot on a day with some sun. Then Saturday evening my dear friends mother was getting married in a lovely Japanese tea garden and had asked me to be the photographer. Again the rain didn't let up for one moment and I have no protection for my camera for such an issue. I tried, I truly did, but I don't have the tools or knowledge to shoot great pictures indoors. I feel horrible, like a total failure. Perhaps it's the time of the month and the hormones that come with it thats causing me to be so down about both of these shoots but it's really got me in a funk and I can't seem to shake it.

Thursday night with Step-on-me

My sweet friend Stephanie, who I've known since the embarrassing years of high school, was in town visiting from So Cal last night. We made plans to get together for dinner and chat and decided to take a lil stroll downtown afterwards. It was just her, my camera, and I enjoying the city lights and sights. I adore this girl. Not only is she spaz-tically silly and hilarious she's genuine and loving and strong. She's my "mini Jillian Michaels" and I'd kill for her to move back to Sac and be my personal trainer. I mean check out this girls arm definition! I will not give up on this dream until it is a reality and she's making me puke in a gym somewhere. Here are a few shots from our evening in Sactown.

Photo shoot tonight with a family of 5! Praying the rain waits till we're done. I've never done a family shoot before so this is a new and exciting challenge for this photographer. Wish me good weather!

Funtabulous Weekend

I had such an incredible weekend I'm having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that it's over. Unfortunately I didn't drag my camera around with me for any of it so I'll just have to paint you a picture: It started on Friday night with a hot date to the haunted house in town. I haven't been to a good haunted house in....well ever. We both had the snot completely scared out of us! It felt like we were stuck in a horror movie and at times I wasn't sure I wouldn't lose my mind with fear! At the end of it all the tension in my neck was as intense as the crazy smile on my face. Afterwards we decided to go bowling, something else I haven't done in years, and we had a blast. I did manage to bowl a few strikes but they were frequently surrounded by gutter balls or knocking down one lonely pin. It all balanced out I suppose. We ended the night getting lost on the way home. We took a long and dark drive along what I'm guessing was the Sacramento river. The moon reflected in it perfectly and if I hadn't been preoccupied with not knowing where we were I could have marveled in the beauty a bit more. We are going to have to hunt that road down again someday and bring my camera. Saturday he joined me again for a day of working in my church nursery. We spent hours at IKEA hunting down the perfect shelves and blinds with a very sleepy 3 year old. Any man that can handle the time suckage that an afternoon at IKEA produces is alright in my book. After he showed off his handy man skills we had some ice cream for dinner and he headed back home. I then headed over to my BFF's house to dish all the juicy details.
Sunday was the cherry on top. I'd heard on facebook about a last min show at the Crest, Robin Williams was coming to town to test out his new material. Tickets went on sale at 10am on Friday and I managed to snag a pair before they sold out at 10:10 am. The show was hilarious. Yes, Mr. Williams is pretty foul mouthed and nasty but it's MORK! He's an icon! Our cheeks were sore after laughing for 2 hours straight. He is such a nut and comedic genius and I'm so grateful we have that memory to share. So now you see why this Monday has been such a brutal crash after such a whirlwind of fun weekend? It's going down in the record books as one of the best ever. Thank you Devin for every part. :)

Looking for moments

I wish I had the free time necessary to roam, and explore, and capture, and create. Right now my weekends are booked with shoots, and birthdays, and fund-raising, and dates...(hee hee!) Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining one bit. So much good stuff jammed packed into my free time I'm overflowing with gratitude. I just long for a date with my camera where no expectations are set. I don't anticipate I'll have one of those anytime soon so for now I'll just tote it along with me on these adventures and hope that inspiration and action find it's way to me in a moment.

Happy Friday Beautiful Bloggers!

101010

Can you feel it? It's supposed to be a special day, the date 10/10/10 has got to be profound in some way right? The number 10 is symbolic of so many things from perfection to fertilization. The number 10 runs rampant in the Bible from the 10 commandments to the 10 plagues. Personally this date finds me in a state of consuming excitement. The start of journeys that although the final destination is unknown I'm so sure will result in great things. I received an anonymous card yesterday from someone in my church encouraging me to let the past go and let God do amazing things in my life. First off how cool is that? A anonymous card of precious words to encourage me! Second, God is already doing amazing things in my life and I am ecstatic about where He'll lead me.

I spent a little time trying to capture some moments of fall over the week, before my horrible bout with food poisoning. (Don't wish that on anyone!) The leaves are only beginning to change so it wasn't quite the sea of gold and yellow I'd hoped for but soon...soon. Just another thing I'm anticipating like a little girl the night before a trip to Disneyland.

Hope everyone has a wonderful 10/10/10!

Troy pt. 3

The last round of my fav pics from Troy's senior shoot. Next weekend I have a fun shoot with my friends daughter, she's all cute and stylish so I'm sure we'll have a blast!

They made me gasp!

I was flipping through the October 2010 Anthropologie catalogue this morning and mostly admiring the location of the photo shoot. Big open spaces with high decorated ceilings and tall windows allowing golden splotches of light through. The walls are covered with ornate wall paper that's faded, chipped, and worn. Pretty much my dream location for a photo shoot. Then I turned to page 29 and let out a GASP! One of these beauties sat on a detailed floor saying "Look how adorable I am!" It was a moment I had to share.
