Reflection
I confess. I have tumbled off the self portrait project wagon for the last three months (cringe.)
But, I've forgiven myself and decided that if the opportunity presents itself for me to participate I will. If not...that's ok.
For the month of July the theme was "reflection," I do love reflection photos so when I had a little alone time last week I took advantage.
We've been getting a lot of use out of the pool this summer, it's hot, and my boy is swimming like a pro (I'm so proud!) I thought it was appropriate to get a reflection in the pool and when the sun is down and the daylight has just about disappeared for the day the pool usually creates some pretty cool reflections.
Check out more of the reflection self portraits here.

Black and White

I have been seriously slacking on my self portrait project this month. Like I said in earlier posts it's just been a really crazy and intense few months. This month's theme for {in the picture} was "black and white." I really love b/w photos so I am kind of bummed at myself that I didn't spend more time working on the assignment this month. Oh well, not going to beat myself up about it.
I did manage to take a moment today and take a few selfie shots with this theme in mind. When a photo has a lot of light contrast or if the whites of the eyes stand out it says "convert me to b/w!" At least that's what I hear. So I propped myself up where the blinds created some lines and made sure my eyes were either looking to the side or up to get a lot of white...and yes, I admit it, I'm showing off my engagement ring. (Hee hee hee.)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Write-on
The theme for February at {in the picture} was "write-on." We were supposed to incorporate words in our photos. I pretty much just added them in after the photo was taken. I am getting more comfortable with taking selfie's and utilizing any alone time I have to set up my tripod and find my remote. It's been a lot of fun so far, and it's not too late to join in!

In other news I just got back last night from a 3 day trip to Albuquerque for work. It wiped me out. Super early mornings and a hard hotel mattress equals Kim in Zombie form. I'm glad to be home, got my Starbucks and I'm going to catch up on some blogs while the washing machine does it's thing. Then, hopefully, before I go pick up the boy from preschool I want to get a little reading in. I went ahead and bought the first of the Hunger Games book for the flight home and finished half of it. Everyone was right, it's good. I'm jumping on the bandwagon late, as usual, but I'm riding it all the way!
Happy Friday all!

Moments shared
I took advantage of movie time with E by setting up my tripod and remote.
"Return to Neverland," plenty of pillows, popcorn, and my sweet boy. :)

I will say this self portrait project is making me think outside the box a bit more when it comes to finding camera time.
I didn't have any concept or preconceived, creative idea's surrounding this.
Just grabbing the opportunity to have some everyday life shots of my boy and me. And since this month's theme is "write on" I added the text.
Again, not so sure I like the words but I'm still thinking about a way to incorporate words in my selfies that work for me.

My words are cheesy
It helps sometimes to just take a moment. Find a quiet place and drink in the details. And in my case try incessantly to get a decent self portrait.
For February at {in the picture} the theme is "write on.!" I've never been real good at this. I see other photographs including words that work, really well. But when I try it always comes off kinda cheesy. The below attempt is no exception. Maybe by the end of the month I'll get one I'm proud of.

Happy weekend, hope you get some quiet time of your own to relax!

A piece of me
Some days you may only get a piece of me.
It may not be the best piece, or even a very good piece.
Maybe because it's all I have to give.
Maybe because it's all you deserve.
But one day you will get a better piece of me.
And if you're patient, and worthy, you'll catch a glimpse of all of me.
