Day 18: Your shoes


Shoes and handbags have been a weakness of mine for many years so I've accumulated a nice collection of both. At first I thought I'd put every pair I own in a pile and take a picture but I thought better about putting my shoe hoarding habits on display. So instead I took a shot of one of my most fabulous pair that sadly sit in their box day in and day out with out seeing the sunshine. Ever since I gave myself a bad sprain back in November I can't handle heels this high. It's heartbreaking really. I'm still praying I make a full recovery someday soon and rock these puppies again with my LBD.

Shabby Apple has SO MANY cute vintage inspired dresses, shoes, skirts,

and yes...even baithing suits. They carry a nice range of sizes which is fabulous for those of us that don't fit into the size 2-6 range. There's a collection of adroable Bridesmaid dresses and even some darling dresses for a stylish princess.

I am so going to treat myself with one of these pretty's from

my wishlist as soon as I drop 10lbs.

Oh and a tip...don't pinterest when you're on a diet. WAY too many yummy recipies!

Calling all Anthropologie Junkies!

Just a little fashion news I had to share with all my fellow Anthropologie junkies. They launched thier new wedding line and of course it's stunning. I'm not shopping for a wedding gown, and these prices are of course outrageous, but in my fantasy wedding with an unlimited budget I'd take this one:

While we were walking back to the car for yet another wardrobe change I saw these two HUGE, white, beautiful dogs heading out for a walk in the park with their owners. I said "wow those look like polar bears! How cool would it be to get them in the shoot?" I'm not bold enough to ask the owners if we could use their lovely beasts for some photo's...but I hang with bold ladies that do it for me :) Amy asked, they graciously allowed, and I love these! She looks so teeny tiny next to these gorgeous dogs!







She was such a trooper out in the cold in spaghetti straps!

Farida pt. 1

I met Farida through my dear friend Amy who was always talking about this adorable and sassy girl she worked with from Bangladesh. When I met Farida she said she liked my photography and we briefly discussed how fun it would be to do a shoot. Fast Forward a few short months and she was moving out of state so we booked the shoot with a quickness. When she arrived to the shoot, her car was full of most of the contents of her closet. She's a stylish girl so you know what that meant...WARDROBE CHANGES!








I had a blast taking her pictures! Obviously she's gorgeous and also a great model.








If you're having your pictures taken, don't be afraid you'll look silly if you play super model, don't be afraid to ham it up for the camera, your photographer will love you and those make for the best pictures!

KOKO shoot

I met Kristal at my very first job at Party Plus Hallmark back in 1994 where we became instant friends while restocking paper plates and party decorations.

I have so many fun-tab-ulous memories with this lady!
From celebrating the "Age of Aquarius" (because one day just wasn't enough for either of us,) and rooting for our Sacramento Kings when they actually stood a chance to win,
to watching "Sex and the City" together each week with cosmo's in hand.
I spent a good chunk of my early 20's with her making the most of mid town Sacramento.








She's since moved to D.C. and I've since become a mother but even though our lives have gone in different directions she will always hold a special place in my heart.








Kristal made a cameo appearance in Sacramento not long ago and we brought some of her fancy dresses and her boyfriend to the foggy and freezing-cold park for a photo shoot. She and her man were troopers out there in the dampness and darkness and I just love the results,
nothing like a tall blond in a formal gown looking lost in the forest. :)

They made me gasp!

I was flipping through the October 2010 Anthropologie catalogue this morning and mostly admiring the location of the photo shoot. Big open spaces with high decorated ceilings and tall windows allowing golden splotches of light through. The walls are covered with ornate wall paper that's faded, chipped, and worn. Pretty much my dream location for a photo shoot. Then I turned to page 29 and let out a GASP! One of these beauties sat on a detailed floor saying "Look how adorable I am!" It was a moment I had to share.

Carmen pt. 3

Here are the final favorites from my shoot with Carmen. She's already paid me back with several recommendations that have turned into some bookings. Next month is going to be EXTREMELY busy with shoots. Honestly I'm a little nervous and overwhelmed but mostly just grateful for the gift of a good eye, the ability to learn the technical stuff (which still gives me the deer in the headlights face when I try to learn new things on my own,) and the support of so many of my dear friends. I've already learned through this journey that I will always encourage and support a friend looking to chase a dream or make a positive change because I've felt what it's like not to get that support from some friends and it's kind of rotten. Remember...there's room in this world for lot's of stars!
